Employment Law Advice For Employers Who Need Certainty
We help Irish employers manage employment law issues early, correctly, and with confidence — protecting your business, your reputation, and your ability to make clear decisions under pressure.
Employment law issues rarely stay small.
For employers, employment law is not an abstract concern. It affects people, culture, reputation, and financial exposure — often simultaneously.
A single grievance, investigation, or disciplinary issue can escalate quickly if handled incorrectly. The risk is rarely just the issue itself, but how early decisions are made and documented.
Our role is to help you act early, act correctly, and stay in control.
Who we work with.
We advise employers across Ireland, typically small and medium-sized businesses with between 5 and 150 employees.
Our clients include:
- Business owners and directors
- HR managers and practice managers
- Senior decision-makers without in-house HR
- Professional practices and service-based businesses
- Finance and operations leaders
If employment decisions ultimately land with you, this service is designed for that responsibility.
Preventing Workplace Issues
Most disputes can be avoided with the right documents, the right process and advice at the right time.
- Contracts, policies & staff handbooks: drafting and review so your paperwork holds up if it's tested.
- Disciplinary & grievance advice: legal advice at each step so outcomes stand up to scrutiny.
- Workplace investigations: setting the scope, reviewing findings and managing the legal risk.
- Redundancy & restructuring: planning, consultation, selection and documentation.
- Ongoing employer advisory support: "For businesses that want consistent access to expert employment law advice, we provide ongoing support tailored to your organisation's needs."
Defending Workplace Claims
When a claim arrives, the deadlines are short and early decisions shape the outcome. We represent employers from the first letter through to hearing.
- WRC claims: assessing the complaint, preparing your submission and evidence, and representing you at adjudication.
- Labour Court appeals: acting on appeals from WRC decisions, which must generally be lodged within 42 days.
- Employment disputes: advice and negotiation before a dispute becomes a formal claim.
- Settlement negotiations: negotiating and drafting settlement agreements that close the matter properly.
- Court proceedings: representation in the Circuit Court and High Court, including injunction applications.
Need a workplace process run for you?
For independent investigations, mediation, performance management, disciplinary and grievance processes, and manager training, our specialist service Employment Matters runs the process while we advise on the legal side.
Why perspective matters.
For over 15 years, we acted primarily for employees. We represented individuals challenging employer decisions, procedures, and documentation. Today, we use that insight to help employers avoid the same pitfalls.
We understand:
- How claims are framed and escalated
- Where procedures are most vulnerable
- What decisions are scrutinised after the fact
- How early missteps turn into formal disputes
This perspective allows us to advise employers with clarity, realism, and foresight.
Prevent problems before they become disputes.
Most employment law disputes begin long before a claim is ever filed. They start with unclear contracts, inconsistent processes, or decisions made under pressure without legal context.
Our €575 Employer Audit is designed to identify these risks early and give you clear, prioritised guidance on what to address — before issues escalate.
For many employers, this audit is the most effective first step.
What the audit includes:
- Review of key employment contracts and policies
- Identification of legal and procedural risks
- Practical recommendations for improvement
- A 90-minute consultation with an employment law specialist
A clear, controlled process.

I’m extremely happy with Ormonde Solicitors and I’m giving them a well-deserved 5 stars! From the very beginning, the team showed genuine care and support. They regularly checked in to see how I was feeling, clearly explained everything when I had questions, and guided me through every step of the process. Before finding Ormonde, I had contacted several other firms — many of them were rude or dismissive. In contrast, this firm truly made me feel cared for — not just as a client, but as a person. A special thank you to Daithí Ó’Maonaigh — it was an absolute pleasure working with him. He was kind, professional, and always available. He supported me from the start and helped me reach a fair outcome. Thank you so much for everything! 💙Posted on Google![]()
